景乃桓,美国北卡州立大学教授。曾获国家海外杰出青年基金(2008),2004-05年德国洪堡学者,2003年美国福尔布莱特学者。作为客座教授多次访问美国伯克利数学研究所、德国波恩马普数学研究所、德国莱比锡马普应用数学所、京都大学数理研究所等著名数学中心。研究方向:代数学和数学物理(量子群和无限维李代数,表示论,代数组合)。


报告摘要:

We give a new approach to compute irreducible characters of the general linear group over the finite field. Character theory of GL(n,q) was a classic result of Green that shaped representation theory. Zelevinsky also used PSH Hopf algebras to formulate Green's theory. The vertex algebraic method enhenced Green's theory and we realized the Hall algebra using two Fock spaces corresponding to extensions of Galois fields and their duals. As a result, a general formula of character values is obtained. Joint work with Yu Wu.
